Karen Sch-Ron Lawler, 70, passed away peacefully at home on the family ranch west of Stillwater, Oklahoma, on August 14, 2026.

Karen was born June 26, 1956, in Auburn, California, the youngest of six children born to Earl and Frances Grice. On May 27, 1983, she married the love of her life, John Lawler, and together they built a life and a family at their ranch, "The Tumbling L."

Karen devoted more than 30 years to the Payne County District Attorney's Office, Child Support Division, serving the families of her community. At the time of her retirement, she was managing the child support offices in both Payne and Logan counties.

Karen was strong in her faith and a member of World Harvest Church in Stillwater. She loved her horses and her animals, and she was happiest with her family around her. She was a gifted seamstress who put her hands to work for the people she loved. Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend — a woman who loved deeply and was loved in return by everyone who knew her.

Karen is survived by her husband of 43 years, John Lawler; her daughter, Karla Selman and her husband, Patrick; her son, Kyle Lawler and his wife, Cory; and her son, Jarren Lawler and his wife, Rachael. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Michael Selman, Teresa Boydstun and her husband, Dakota, Marley Selman, Emelia Selman, Zayne Lawler, Zayden Lawler, Mary "Zoe" Lawler, Wyatt Lawler, and Remi Lawler; and one great-granddaughter, Sadie-Mae. She is further survived by her brothers, Fred Grice, Roy Grice and his wife, Cindy; and her sister, Kathy Callen and her husband, Willie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Frances Grice; her sister-in-law Lou Grice, her brothers, Al Hardin and Don Grice; and her granddaughter, Olivia Selman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at World Harvest Church, 1718 W. Lakeview Road, Stillwater, with Pastor Mike Sturgeon and Pastor David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Heights Cemetery.
