Obituary

It is with a sense of deep loss that the Field family must sadly announce the passing of Kenneth Leland Field (87), one month and one day after the loss of his beloved wife and their cherished mother and grandmother, Carolyn. Kenneth passed away quietly on January 4, 2025 in Stillwater Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the First Christian Church from 5:00 to 7:00 here in Stillwater.

Kenneth was born the youngest of six children on December 17, 1937 in Perkins, Ok to Donald Ellsworth Field and Lina Ford Field. He attended grade school at the country school there in Perkins and later the Cottonwood country school northwest of Stillwater. Kenneth graduated from C.E. Donart high school in 1955. He served in the National Guard for 9 years. He married Carolyn Ann Day on December 18, 1955, one day after his eighteenth birthday. They moved to Blackwell, OK in 1956 and Kenneth began his career with the city's utility department. In 1957, they moved back to Stillwater and Kenneth went to work for the City of Stillwater Utility department. He stayed with the City for ten years until he left in 1967 to establish Field Electric, a Stillwater institution that continues to thrive today. On August 1, 1957, Kenneth and Carolyn were blessed with the arrival of Kenneth Lee Field, Jr and then two years later with another son, Michael Wayne Field. From that moment on, those boys became the very center of their world and that would last for the rest of their lives together.

Kenneth and Carolyn loved sports which turned out to be very lucky for them because both of their boys turned out to be quite gifted athletes. It is safe to say that if you attended any Stillwater High school football, basketball, or baseball games in the 1970s, (and American Legion in the summer), you would have seen Kenneth and Carolyn in the stands cheering the boys on. Most likely with Carolyn's mother, Grandma Day also in attendance. Kenneth and Carolyn would continue to follow Kenney to varsity baseball at Oklahoma State University and Mike to varsity football at Tulsa University. In addition to sports, Kenneth loved fishing, golfing, boating and camping and John Wayne movies. He moved the family to a house on Boomer Lake and built a pool that allowed them to entertain not only Kenney and his wife Brenda and Mike and his wife, Melanie but also the six grandchildren that would eventually come to complete their loving family.

Kenneth is survived by both sons and their wives as well as his grandchildren, Dillon Field, Garrett Field, Taylor Field, Madison Beckman and husband, John, Kennedy Field, Grant Field and wife, Brittany and new great grandson, Nolan Field. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife and all five of his Field siblings, brothers, Bob and Leo and sisters, Donna, Janice and Joyce.

The Field family wishes to thank Stillwater Medical Center and all the devoted doctors and nurses that made Kenneth's journey a peaceful one.
