Kenny's only sibling, Jaimee Robinson, has shared the following thoughts about her beloved brother:
Mom called us Mutt & Jeff; Kenny and I had our own nicknames..."Kev and Kitty". We used to watch a series called "Brothers and Sisters" together, when he lived in Arkansas and I was in Stillwater. We would watch and talk on the phone, not FaceTime, just the old-fashioned way with a voice on the other end. We would laugh, cry, and comment on what it would be like to have a large family. Growing up, Kenny and I developed a very close friendship that lasted his entire life, and I will carry that with me for the rest of mine. We were side-by-side throughout our entire lives, and I was at his side as he passed.
Being tasked with an obituary is not easy. You know what you loved about the person, what they loved, and what you want others to know, but when you get down to it, the grief, the fog...nothing sounds right, or enough. So, here are some of my thoughts and memories.
Kenny loved his family more than life. He also loved Sam Adams, Mac-n-Cheese, Marlboro Lights, Music! Music! and more music!! Kenny loved his dog Bailey, camping, swimming, spending time with his favorite nephew Jorden, aka PAB (their code), computers, and gazebo nights at my place listening to music, having a cocktail, dancing, sharing dreams and curing life's problems...because that can happen on a gazebo, in the country, under the stars with Kev & Kitty.
Kenny loved watching his father smile, as well as his father's laugh. He loved the way Dad looked at Mom, and
admired and looked up to both his dad Tim Reilley and mom Vivian Reilley. Kenny always told mom she was beautiful and he meant it...gay people don't lie about things like that! Kenny's bond with his mom is unmeasurable. He was her biggest cheerleader, and she his.
Kenny held great pride in himself when he volunteered for the Red Cross in Arkansas. He said it was humbling and rewarding. Helping and crying with families after devastating events really put his own life into perspective, and he was a better man because of it. Kenny liked to write, some of which I will share some day.
I can't say enough about our little family! The strength and unconditional love we were raised with can't be matched. Mom, dad, and I meant everything to Kenny and he meant everything to us. We were always there for each other, and my parents never knew tough love, just "love". They knew that love would cure everything. When we lost dad in 2017, it was devastating. Kenny lived with and helped mom until he got too sick, then mom became the primary care giver through Kenny's last days. That women is stronger than anyone I know. Vivian Reilley...write that down...is a super hero. Mom brought Kenny into this world, and was with him as he left it.
Our family also includes Frank Robinson, Kenny's brother-in-law who quickly became just a brother. They loved and fought like true siblings. Frank was the "No" guy who would give Kenny limits and boundaries, and Kenny learned to respect that in Frank. They would laugh and make fun of each other and most of all they protected family together. Frank too was by Kenny's side as he passed.
Jorden Robinson (PAB) is Kenny's beloved nephew. Kenny wasn't fond of kids, but when Jorden was born Kenny couldn't get enough. Jorden actually looked like Kenny as a baby, and it was weird to have my son look more like my brother than me or Frank. Kenny was there for every major event in Jorden's life. Through thick and thin they always turned to each other. Jorden was also by his side as he passed as was Jorden's wife Stefhania.
No other names need mentioning, although Kenny had many friends and family he loved dearly, and you know who you are. He loved you, he cherished you, and you meant the world to him.
Kenny will be missed dearly, and will be remembered for so much. He was someone who was stubborn, challenging, loving, creative, and tremendously caring with a huge heart. Fly high my brother, Kev...till we meet again...Love Sis (Kitty)
