Obituary

It is with deep love, we celebrate the life of our precious Kerrie Lynnetta Shipley, age 58, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family and at the sight of our Savior, Jesus Christ, she took off to her heavenly home with a big grin on her face and eyes wide open. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Eden Chapel United Methodist Church with burial following in Glenwood/Eden Chapel Cemetery.

Born with Down Syndrome, Kerrie lived every day with joy, innocence and affection that became the heartbeat of our family. Though her abilities were different, her capacity for love was limitless.

She lit up every room with her smile, her hugs, and her gentle spirit. She loved any activity that included her family, especially camping or going to Branson. She also enjoyed listening to classic Country & Western music, gospel music, and Christmas music. Kerrie never missed an opportunity to go on vacation with anyone that offered to take her. She cherished her time coloring, playing on her iPad, watching TV, and listening to music. She also enjoyed the years she spent in Special Olympics, participating in track and field, softball throw, bowling and bocce.

She loved her church family at Eden Chapel in Perkins and later in life her adopted "Step-Church Family" at Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond where her Stepmom works.

Kerrie taught us what truly matters: kindness, laughter, patience and the simple gift of being together. She loved Jesus and often went to Him with pencil and paper asking Him to correct someone she insisted had misbehaved.

She was preceded to heaven by Linda Shipley (Her Sweet Mother), Mary Nell Shipley (Grandmother) Martin & Ruth Shipman (Grandfather & Grandmother), Lula Mae Greene (Great Grandmother) and Virgil Danforth (her Bonus-Brother) and many other family members that we honor and remember today.

Kerrie is survived by Jerry & Sue Shipley (Father & Stepmom), April & David Shelton (Sister & Brother-in-law), Mykelti & Jack Pritchard (Niece & Nephew-in-law), Dawson & Megan Shelton (Nephew & Niece-in-law), Eve Pritchard (Great-Niece) plus a host of family, friends and a circle of caregivers that quickly became family.

We rejoice in knowing Kerrie is now whole, healed and dancing in heaven. Her life was a gift, her love, a blessing and her memory, a light that will never dim.
