Kevin Lee "Butch" Smith died unexpectedly on September 8, 2025 at his home in Stillwater, OK at the age of 62. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2025 at Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Kevin was born April 25, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Marvin and LeEtta (Rider) Smith. When he was just one year old the family moved from Bixby, Oklahoma to Hallmark Farm in Kansas City, Kansas. Kevin went to school from kindergarten to 5th grade at Stanley, Kansas. The summer of his 6th grade year they moved to Hardesty, Oklahoma where he graduated high school in 1981. Kevin then attended Junior College at Seward County then Panhandle State University. During his education he was involved in an auto accident in 1983 that left him permanently in a wheelchair. After many months of hospitals and therapy, he was able to finish his bachelor's degree and began working for the United States Department of Agriculture where he spent 31 remarkable years.

He had a passion for hunting, guns and ammunition, fishing, and raising cattle.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Lee Smith.

Survivors include his mother; LeEtta Smith of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and his sister Kim Smith also of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
