Leonard, Kimberly Joe Oklahoma City School Teacher died on November 26th, 2023. Daughter of James Fisher Leonard and Betty Joe Leonard, she was born on August 2nd, 1964 in Denver, Colorado. Kimberly grew up in Bethany Oklahoma, however, she attended the Warr Acres public school system. Kimberly was a proud graduate of Putnam City West High School, where she was elected prom queen and did gymnastics. She went on to attend and graduate from The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. She was a member of the club water skiing team and chose to study early childhood education.
Kimberly had a variety of jobs some of which included, Flight Attendant, Semi-Professional Cheerleader (She loved to joke that it was for an Arena Football Team) and hairdresser. After these short stints, she went back to her calling as a school teacher in the Oklahoma City Area. Kimberly taught for over 20 years in the Oklahoma City Public School systems, she had the opportunity to help and grow with students at Even Start Literacy Programs, Edgemere Elementary, and Nichols Hills Elementary.
She was an enthusiastic fan of Oklahoma Football and was a season ticket holder for over 15 years. She was also an animal lover and passionate about adopting dogs from shelters. Over the years she helped raise 6 dogs (Gisselle, Babygirl, Lina, Lulu, Sassy, Jake) and two cats (Baby Face Nelson George & Puffkitty). However, Kimberly's most proud accomplishment was raising her two boys, Gabriel James and Kyle Christian. Hardly a day or conversation passed her by where she wasn't discussing sports games she was attending for her boys, what they were studying, the latest update or funny story about them. They were truly her entire world. Kimberly was laid to rest absolutely painless and surrounded by a lot of love from her two boys and current puppy, Gisselle.
She is survived by her two sons, Gabriel James Cummings and Kyle Christian Cummings. Her funeral service will be held in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Kimberly's family wishes to express their love & gratitude to the nurses & staff of Integris Hospital and the Integris Hospice House, during the time of his illness. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the INTEGRIS Hospice House at 5710 NW 130th St.
