Kyle Dean Custer, age 34, of Bristow, Oklahoma, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma, with Kevin Clouse officiating.
Kyle was born on March 7, 1991, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Cushing High School, Class of 2009, and worked at McDonald's for 14 years, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Kyle's presence brought light and laughter into every room he entered. His smile was infectious, and he never met a stranger. He genuinely wanted to know people-not just their names, but their stories. Family meant everything to Kyle, and he especially loved his nieces. He was so excited to be an uncle and often talked about the things he wanted to do with them as they grew, including taking them for mani-pedis.
Kyle loved traveling with family, and no matter where he went-whether in Oklahoma or out of state-someone always seemed to know him. In his own words, he was "popular." Johnie was his best friend, and anyone who knew Kyle also knew Johnie and his brother, Kong. Johnie made the last eight years of Kyle's life the best. Together they took road trips to Utah and Phoenix, made crafts, worked side by side, spent time in the hospital together, and shared life fully. She even taught him how to use power tools.
Kyle was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He deeply loved the Lord and had a strong knowledge of the Bible and the love of Jesus. He spent hours writing the Bible word for word and listening to different preachers, carefully reflecting on their messages. If he had questions, he wasn't afraid to ask tough ones-often turning to his dad to make sure what he was hearing was right.
Kyle proudly lived with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome and embraced it as part of who he was. He attended two conferences, loved meeting others, and was eagerly looking forward to the next conference in Portland.
Above all, Kyle loved his momma. He always had a smile just for her, and she was the reason he fought so hard. In the end, when his body was too tired to continue, he reassured her with the words, "No matter what happens, God's got this." Kyle is now pain-free and will be deeply missed.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, a sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews-too many to name individually.
He is survived by his parents, David and Kimberly Custer, and Paul Holt; siblings Korie, Jesse and his wife, Ember, Daniel, Tristan, Jonathon, and Tyler; and nieces Chelsey, Tegann, Queen Hadley, Ellyannah, Jynson, Annahleese, Brenann, Enya, nephew Rowen, and great-niece Lakin.
Pallbearers will be Paul Custer, Jesse Custer, Justin Randles, Paul Holt, Donnie Wilson, and Daniel Almanza.
Kyle's life was a gift, and his legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on in all who knew him.
