Lillee Dennegar Zierau passed away peacefully at her home in Stillwater, Oklahoma on February 10, 2025. She was 100 years old.
Lillee was born on April 11, 1924, in Union Hill, NJ, (now Union City) to Lillian (Nyberg) Dennegar and Leland Stanford Dennegar, Sr. She married Harold Kenneth Zierau in 1947. The couple moved to Germany to work for the US government in the effort to rebuild Europe after WWII.
In the 1950's they returned to New Jersey and had two children. Lillee stayed at home to care for them. Her family was everything to her. In mid-life she earned a bachelor's degree (Goddard College) and a Master's degree in education (Temple University). She worked as a teacher, real estate salesperson, and authored two children's books. In retirement she and Harold moved from New Jersey to Oklahoma in 1995.
Lillee was preceded in death by Harold Zierau, her husband of 71 years; daughter Robin Zierau-Cooper and brother Leland Stanford Dennegar, Jr.
She is survived by son Roger Zierau and daughter-in-law Heidi F. Hoffer of Stillwater.
