Obituary

Linda Diane McArthur, 72, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at her home.

Linda was born on November 29, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to William and Shirley McArthur. She graduated from Moore High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Teaching was more than a profession for Linda; it was a calling. She spent many years teaching at Sky Ranch Elementary in Moore, Oklahoma, where she shared her knowledge and inspired her students through lessons in science, history and English. Her dedication and commitment to education were recognized in 1992 when she received the Teacher of the Year award. Linda took pride in helping others learn and discover the world around them, leaving a lasting impression on the students whose lives she touched.

Linda’s love of learning extended far beyond the classroom. She also worked as a teacher teaching at the OmniPlex Planetarium, formerly known as the Science Museum and Kirkpatrick in Oklahoma City, where she shared her fascination with the stars and the wonders of the universe. Astromony was one of her deepest passions, and she could often be found gazing at the night sky, forever curious about what lay beyond the world around her.

A woman with a wonderfully whimsical spirit, Linda embraced both the mysteries of life and the discoveries of science. She was grounded in her faith while remaining fascinated by the unexplained, including ghosts, mysteries, and reincarnation. Her curiosity knew few boundaries, and she delighted in exploring ideas that sparked her imagination. Linda approached the world with wonder and an open mind.

Faith was another meaningful part of Linda’s life. She attended First United Methodist Church in Moore, Oklahoma, where she especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Through music, faith, teaching, and her many interests, Linda found different ways to express herself and connect with the world around her.

Linda is survived by her beloved sister, Lisa McArthur of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Shirley McArthur.

Linda will be remembered as a dedicated educator, a lifelong learner, a passionate stargazer, and a woman whose imagination made life a little more extraordinary. She encouraged others to learn, question, explore, and remain curious about the world. Her unique blend of faith, science, humor, and fascination with life's mysteries made her one of a kind. Though she has departed this world, the lessons she taught, the stories she shared, and the wonder she found in the universe will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
