Obituary

Linda Marie Snavely, 75, of Ripley, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Stillwater Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Linda was born December 7, 1948 in Houston, Texas. The third of six children born to Carl E. Snavely and Etta Marie (Greenwood) Snavely.

Her younger years were spent with family on a number of small farms where she developed her love for animals, and even had a show steer named Frank. She had quite a knack for wrangling her younger siblings.

The family moved to Stillwater around 1963 where she attended Stillwater Public Schools. She graduated from C.E. Donart in 1967. She was always a hard worker and began working at a young age. She worked at OSU on and off for many years. She began working at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico during the summers, and eventually moved to New Mexico where she stayed for several years before returning to Oklahoma. Her last job was an abstract splicer at Oklahoma Closing and Title. Linda enjoyed cooking for her family and listening to music in her free time.

Linda was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Whatever struggles she encountered throughout her life, her faith and prayer would get her through it. Linda will be remembered for her humor, compassion and generosity to others.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; her brother John; her sister Carlene and her nephew Tony.

She is survived by her son Zach Sabus; her brother Bill Snavely and his wife LeAnn; her sisters Susan Snavely and Debbie Ferguson and her husband Dave; and her sister-in-law Mary, her nieces Lislie Echalk and Annie Echalk. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her very much, as well as dear friends who will miss her.
