Obituary

Lloyd Edward Grimmett was born on October 7, 1959 in Nowata, OK to George and Frances Grimmett. He attended and graduated from Nowata High School. He later attended college in Coffeyville, KS receiving an Associate Degree. On September 24, 1983 he married the love of his life, Deirdre (Dee) Lane in Coffeyville, KS and to this union they had two sons.

Lloyd accepted Christ at an early age. When he moved to Stillwater in 2000, he joined the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was very active until he experienced a decline in his health. He served as an ordained Deacon, Brotherhood Ministry President, member of Male Choir and Usher. Lloyd was also a member of the Building Fund and Outreach Committees.

Lloyd worked as a maintenance technician and boiler operator at Stillwater Medical Center for seventeen years until his retirement in 2022. For a brief period, he served as Chaplain for Judith Karman Hospice. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and humanitarian work such as jailhouse ministry. His most enjoyable hobby was smoking meats and fellowshipping with family and friends. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Lloyd passed away on August 6, 2024 at Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, George, Jr., and Frances Grimmett; grandparents, George and Orenthia Grimmett and sister, Karen Grimmett.

Lloyd leaves to cherish his precious memory: his lovely wife of the home, two sons, Chris Grimmett and wife Cali of Ada, OK and Brett Grimmett and Meghan of Edmond, OK; two brothers, Felix Grimmett and wife Julie of Austin, TX, James Grimmett and wife Margaret of Coffeyville, KS, and one Brother-n-love who he claimed as his brother, Kevin Irving and wife Kay of Houston, TX. Three grandchildren, Blake, Skye and Cenyan and he was looking forward to the birth of his fourth grandbaby, Daxton Lloyd; one bonus grandchild, Grey; maternal aunt, Maxine Rogers of Wichita, KS and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at Mt. Zion Church of Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
