Margaret "Meg" June Jones, 79, went to her heavenly home on the evening of August 5, 2024. She peacefully left this world surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Stillwater Church of Christ. Visitation with family and friends will take place after the service in fellowship hall at the church. Meg will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, OK.
Meg was born to Lucy Marybelle and Henry Hawkins June 24, 1945 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She had three brothers, Gene, Ray, and Rick Hawkins, and two sisters, Nellie O'Brien and Mariellen Fry. Meg loved her siblings very much and had an unyielding bond with her sisters. When the three of them would get together, there was always a lot of laughter, storytelling, and dancing!
She met the love of her life, Jesse William Jones, at a dance hall in Kiowa, Oklahoma. Meg caught Jesse's eye when she came up to the stage and asked him if he knew the words to "I Didn't Know God Made Honky Tonk Angels." He didn't know the words to this song, but he offered to sing her another song, and this was the beginning of their life together! They were married on June 19th, 1964, in the living room of Jesse's parents' home.
Together they had three sons, Kevin, Keifer, and Jeffrey. Meg loved her children and was a dedicated "boy mom." She attended all their ballgames and would proudly cheer them on. She was the only mom in PeeWee that would get so excited that she would run the bases alongside the boys.
Everyone that knew Meg would agree that she was an enthusiastic OSU fan. On game day, you would find her dressed up in her orange and black, nerves out of control, and radio in hand. Meg made every gameday feel like a holiday!
Meg's devotion to others is seen in the strong bonds of friendship she had with her high school classmates. Throughout the years, she stayed in touch with her friends through the DR63 MHS Google Group. She cared about her classmates and kept up with their lives.
Meg is preceded in death by her mother, Belle, father, Henry, and her three brothers, Gene, Ray, and Rick Hawkins, and many other cherished family members.
