Margaret "Margie" Keener, age 82, died Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, on the Epworth Villa Campus (Brill Chapel) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Pastor Laura Glover and Reverend Kathleen Luke will officiate. A private family inurnment will occur at a later time. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Margie was born to Vernon and Vallee (Lefever) Kidd on March 6, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. Margie graduated from Nathan Hale High School in the first graduating class. She attended Birmingham Southern College where she received a bachelor's degree. Margie received her Master of Education Degree from Oklahoma State University. Margie was a High School teacher at Prairie Home, Missouri; Stillwater High School, Stillwater Oklahoma; and Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. She married Marvin Keener on August 28, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the First Presbyterian Church.
Margie was a cherished member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Presbyterian Women, and volunteered at Our Daily Bread in Stillwater because she loved to help her community. Her hobbies included traveling, crafting, reading, and crocheting, she would crochet hats and scarves for the homeless.
Margie is preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Elaine Green; and nephew, Brian Green. She is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Keener; her daughter Susan Lavergne; son, Ross and wife Tina Keener; her grandson, Christian and wife Alyssa Keener; granddaughter Macy Keener; her brother Vernon Kidd Jr. and wife Penny.
