Obituary

Margaret Irene Redburn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 74 years old. A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2025 in the Sunset Memorial Gardens mausoleum breezeway. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Waco, Texas, on December 29, 1950, Margaret was the daughter of William Davis and Margaret Jones Wayman. She spent much of her life in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she touched countless lives.

Margaret worked for many years at Oklahoma State University in Agricultural Economics, the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Lab, and Payroll. Gifted in both numbers and words, she was tutoring college students in trigonometry while still in high school and later became known for the heartfelt poems, letters, and cards she wrote. While working at OSU, she also worked at the Walmart fabric counter, where her creativity and love for people shone brightly.

Her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her husband, Larry Redburn; her daughter, Meg O'Laughlin (Kevin); and her son, Carl Smith (Karla). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kaylee McGovney (Miles), Colton Oakes, Carlee Smith, and Carson Smith, and a great-grandmother to Hugh McGovney. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Roberta Gail Smith, and brother-in-law Verlin; her brother Mark Arrington (Lou); her nieces Kelsey Smith, Alexandra Moore (Logan), Courtney Miller (Tanner), and nephew Tommy Arrington; as well as great-nieces Madelyn and Blakely Moore, and great-nephews Lucas Moore and Hudson Miller.

Margaret held a deep love for her extended family in Washington and Oregon, including her aunt Florence Jones and cousins Theresa Breithaupt (Khalil), Tawnya Pongracz (Mark), and Robert Jones (Kelly), who remained close in her heart across the miles.

She shared a cherished friendship with Cindy Pennie, the Lutheran parish nurse who helped care for Margaret with love, faith, and compassion. Cindy's presence in her life was a profound blessing to both Margaret and her family.

Margaret had a lifelong love of cats and always had a furry companion by her side. She enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with her friends who became family at The Renaissance of Stillwater. The caregivers there loved her dearly, and she loved them too. Her sharp wit, kindness, and warmth lit up every room she entered.

Above all, Margaret loved the Lord with all her heart and was a devoted student of the Bible. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a guiding light to all who knew her.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered always for her devotion, her resilience, strength, and the love she so freely gave.
