Margaret West's Obituary
Margaret Fern West passed away peacefully February 26th 2025 at Primrose Retirement Community. Known as Maggie by her friends, she was born on February 7, 1934, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Thomas David Young and Stella Fern (Brown)Young. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1952 and was a life-long member of the First Christian Church in Ponca City. She grew up in Ponca City and after graduating from high school she married Harold James "Tricky" West on December 31, 1952, a marriage that lasted 65 years.
Margaret was a stay-at-home mom, raising her 3 children (David, Jamie and Mike) until they were all in school. She then began a career as an office manager for Dr. H.H. Jones. She then worked for Conoco in their Medical Dept. as a medical coder and finally as the office manager for Dr. Berno Ebbesson. She retired in 2000.
After living in Oklahoma City for a few years, Jim and Margaret returned to Ponca City where she became active in the Ponca City Mothers Club and delivered mobile meals.
Margaret enjoyed going to estate sales and auctions, buying old furniture and restoring it. She organized and hosted many large family gatherings for holidays and birthdays. She especially loved having her grandchildren and great grandchildren visit and they all loved to go see "Mimi".
in 2016, Jim and Margaret moved to Primrose Retirement Community where they made many new friends and enjoyed a relaxed retirement.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim of 65 years, her two brothers Bob and Don Young, her two sisters, Lois Barr and Ruth Brunehober, and one grandson, James Michael Taylor.
She is survived by her son David West and wife Jana of Stillwater, her daughter Jamie Taylor and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, and her son Mike West and wife Connie of Ponca City, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Private services were held Monday, March 3, 2025 at Greenhaven Cemetery west of Stillwater.
