Marvin Leroy Gashwazra, 83, passed away on October 27, 2023 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 starting 12:00 p.m. at the Iowa Tribe Chena Building in Perkins, Oklahoma. Burial to follow at the Iowa Tribal Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation in charge of arrangements.

Marvin was born on March 27, 1940 in Old Oraibi, Arizona to Michael and Elizabeth Gashwazra. He attended Chilocco Indian School near Newkirk, Oklahoma. He married Katherine Springer on August 21, 1964 in Winfield, Kansas.

Marvin's occupation was a house painter. He was a member of the Native American Church. He enjoyed attending pow-wows and Gourd Dancing.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Gashwazra, brothers Lannie Gashwazra Sr. and William Humehoynewa, and his sister Rose Tewawina.

Surviving family are his wife, Katherine Gashwazra; Son Howard M. Gashwazra; daughter Shelley Gashwazra; brothers Bradley Gashwazra, Leroy Gashwazra, Sr. and Alfonso Gashwazra; sisters Angelita Cuch and Christine Gashwazra.
Palberers will be Eric Belly Mule, Justyn Hudson, Michael Knight, Seth Horton Blake Horton and Hunter Meyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyrone Springer, Howard Gashwazra, and David Lee Springer.
