Dr. Mary Louise Ellis, 91, passed away on November 20, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A committal service for the family will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2025 at Ingalls Cemetery.
Mary was born November 25, 1933 in Yale, Oklahoma to Errick and Beatrice (Pleasant) Ellis, the youngest of three children. She attended Quay Schools and graduated in 1951. She pursued further studies at Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1955, a Master's of Science degree in1961, and a Doctorate in 1970. Her lifelong studies and working career focused on vocational and technical studies, working within the government, and then owning her own companies dedicated to the same. She made her mark in the Washington, D.C. area, before returning in 1983 to Oklahoma where she was with the Tulsa County Area Vocational - Technical Schools until she retired on November 30, 1997.
She relocated to McAlester, Oklahoma to be closer to her mother and sister. She was an active member of First Baptist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ellen Ellis McBee, and a brother-in-law, Chester E. McBee.
Survivors include her brother, Leonard Ellis, and wife Carol of Stillwater, nieces Sharon McBee Ford of McAlester, Susan Ellis Boody, and husband Craig of Stillwater, Leonard Ellis Jr, and wife Yve of Edmond, Linda Ellis Edmonds, and husband Stacy of Stillwater, numerous great- nieces and nephews, other extended family members, and numerous friends.
