Mary "Lynn" Schwartz-Cox passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 82, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church, 524 S. Duncan St. in Stillwater. A reception will follow at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 516 W 3rd Avenue. Strode Funeral Home and Cremations is in charge of the arrangements.
Lynn was born December 29, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a radiant and kind-hearted soul who cherished her family and friends and pursued her artistic passions with vigor. Many close friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Lynn was a proud alumna of the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her career was marked by numerous awards and active participation in prestigious art societies including the Kansas City Water Color Society, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and Oil Painters of America. Her work was featured in many art gallery showings throughout the years.
Lynn is survived by her husband James (Jim) Cox of the home. Married for 36 years, they were completely devoted to one another. Her son, P.J. Schwartz, of the home, whom she was so proud of and was always his dedicated side-kick to yell for OSU baseball. Lynn's brother, Doug Rippeto of Dallas, Texas and many nephews and nieces.
Beyond her professional achievements, Lynn was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and Father Michael Matkin was not only a spiritual advisor but a dear friend. Her faith was an integral part of her life, as reflected in her involvement in bible study groups, fundraisers, and her support for the church community.
Lynn's hobbies included painting, gardening, baseball, and traveling, each reflecting her love for life and her artistic temperament. These activities brought her immense joy and satisfaction, further showcasing her multifaceted and unique personality.
To honor Lynn's life and legacy in lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests contributions be sent to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
