Monty Mitchell Daffern, age 54, of Stillwater, died Monday, May 13, 2024. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. at the Stillwater Church of Christ and can be livestreamed by going to https://www.youtube.com/@stillwaterChurchofChrist. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Monty was born October 31, 1969 to Gary Mitchell and Jelela Jean "Jeannie" (Bearden) Daffern in Independence, Kansas. After graduating high school, he attended Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma State University and Abilene Christian University where he received a Master's in Biblical Studies. He married Jennifer "Jenny" Rebecca (Chaney) in Kerrville, Texas in 1995.

Monty loved hunting, fishing, golfing and he was a lifelong learner of all things. He received the Stephen Eckstein Lifetime Achievement National Campus Ministry Award in 2023.

Monty is preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Jeannie Daffern; his wife, Jenny; his children, Harrison Mitchell and wife Hannah Alexis (Rucker) Daffern, Melanie Laine "Lou" Daffern, and Kyeson Chaney Daffern; sister Tonya Jean and her husband Paul Thomas Brooks; his brother Casey Wayne and wife Kristin Lara Daffern; as well as six nieces and one nephew.
