Odos Gene Henson, age 93, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Stillwater Bible Church. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery in Beckham County, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Odos was born on September 28, 1932, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to James Arthur and Sarah Gladys (Freeman) Henson. Over the course of his life, he lived in several Oklahoma communities, including Lindsay, Cheyenne, Okmulgee, Clinton, Sayre, Woodward, and ultimately Stillwater, where he proudly called home for over forty years. On December 9, 1959, Odos married Claudia Dianne Coffey at Buffalo Baptist Church in Beckham County. Their marriage of over 66 years stands as a testament to their devotion to faith and family.
Odos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from Oklahoma A&M. He built a distinguished career as a soil scientist and agronomist with the United States Department of Agriculture, work that reflected both his respect for the land and his commitment to public service. A longtime member of Stillwater Bible Church, Odos's faith was an important foundation throughout his life. Outside of work, he found great joy in fishing, hunting, gardening, and collecting artifacts and arrowheads-interests that reflected his love of the outdoors and appreciation for Oklahoma's natural history.
Odos is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Purman, Virgil, and Eulys Henson; and his grandson, Isaac Henson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne; his sisters, Betty Robbins and Mary Beckham; his children, Kim Hall and her husband Vance; Mark Henson and his wife Monica, and his grandchildren, Sophia Henson, Autumn Henson and her husband Mark Allred, Anna Robbins, and Vance Hall and his wife Kaitlin; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia and Madeline Hall.
Odos will be remembered for his love of family, dedication to his faith, and quiet enjoyment of the natural world.
