Patsy Louise Callahan Nunn King was born on January 21, 1931, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to William L. Callahan and Clara Crum Callahan. She grew up mostly in Osage County. Her family moved frequently due to her father's job in the oil industry. She attended several schools including Shilder and Gray Horse before graduating from Hominy High School in 1948. After graduating, she attended Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City, where she became a speed typist with many other skills. She then worked for a lawyer in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and for the purchasing department of Continental Oil Company.
Patsy met her sweetheart James "Jim" Nunn at a social dance in Fairfax, Oklahoma. They were married on August 30, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Fairfax. They lived most of their married life in Ralston, Oklahoma, where they had two daughters, Janet Renee Nunn and Shelly Nunn Sexton. Patsy was active in the Ralston Public School where she did all kinds of volunteer work. She went to every activity that Shelly had and never missed a basketball game. Patsy became the relief Postmaster at the Ralston Post Office in the mid-eighties where she enjoyed seeing all her neighbors as they came in. Patsy was a member of many clubs and social groups, The Fun Club, Eastern Star, different card groups and supper clubs. Entertaining in her home was a favorite activity for Patsy. She always had her home decorated for every season and was a wonderful hostess to all her family and friends. Patsy was also very involved in Ralston Bible Church where she played the piano, organ and taught Sunday School. Patsy and Jim loved to travel. They traveled to England, Venezuela, The Bahamas, New York City and many road trips. They owned a couple of time shares in Colorado where they traveled with family yearly.
Patsy was widowed in 2002 after forty-nine years of marriage. She then moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where she enjoyed her granddaughter Katelynn, who was attending OSU, taking her to look at Christmas lights all around campus. Her other granddaughter, Calleigh enjoyed visiting her in Stillwater where they would play cards and go bowling. In 2006 she married Archie King and moved to Cushing, Oklahoma. They were married until Archie passed in 2014. Soon after Patsy moved back to Stillwater where she made wonderful friends. Patsy spent her last two and half years in Tulsa so she could be closer to family. Patsy was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janet Nunn, her husband James Nunn and husband Archie King. She is survived by her daughter Shelly Sexton and husband Rodney of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, granddaughters Dr. Katelynn Bass and husband Dustin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dr. Calleigh Meyer and husband Ian of Tulsa, Oklahoma, great grandchildren Maddison Bass, Braxton Bass and Kallan Meyer all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A graveside service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Ralston Riverside Cemetery.
