Paul Russell Mullen, age 75, of Stillwater, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Stillwater Medical Center. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born January 30, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Vernon and Lela Jo (Prickett) Mullen. He attended Seminole Public Schools and earned his Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, Paul played basketball under Coach Henry Iba and was honored to play on Iba's last team. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and the O Club. Paul married Bonny Murlin on August 29, 1970 in Stillwater. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and elder.


He worked in the OSU Payroll Department as Payroll Manager for over 20 years. After he retired from OSU, Paul worked for ShopSmith traveling doing woodworking demonstrations. He later went on to work at Lowes in Stillwater. He enjoyed woodworking and also loved photography. In his later years, he enjoyed going to his McDonald's Coffee group. He was an avid fan of all OSU sports, but especially basketball and football. He looked forward to the annual OSU basketball player reunions, where he and his former teammates swapped many basketball stories.


Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry Mullen and David Mullen and nephew Brian Mullen.


Surviving members of his family are his wife, Bonny; son Chris Mullen and wife Alexis; daughters Lara Lewis and husband Brandon and Anne Simmons; grandchildren Cooper Lewis, Miles Lewis and Hadley Mullen; brother-in-law Doug Murlin; and many nieces and nephews.
