Obituary

Phillip Wayne Simon passed away at the age of 62 on March 15, 2024 in his lifelong hometown of Stillwater. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. March 22, 2024 at the Sunnybrook Christian Church. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.


A large procession including Oklahoma Wrecker Association, Oklahoma Highway Patrol who he received the distinction of Honorary Trooper, first responders, and additional state and city servants will leave Strode Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m.


Born on July 2, 1961 to Bernard and Myrtle Simon, he was highly respected for his strong work ethic and love of close family and friends. He graduated from Morrison High School in 1979 and was an All-District Football Center his Senior Year. On November 5, 1981 he married the love of his life, Krystie Steele.


He owned and operated Simon's AAA Towing and Recovery since 1981 - an esteemed business he took over from his father. He was also an avid collector of guns, sports collectibles, John Wayne memorabilia, all things related to Deep Rock, Sinclair, or Conoco gas stations and was George Strait's biggest fan. There was never a stray animal that he didn't rescue or a corgi that he wouldn't adopt. He was a man of few words, of brutal honesty - there was never a question of where you stood with him.


He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Myrtle Simon, and his brother Bernard Alan Simon. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Dale and Laura Steele.


He is survived by his wife Krystie Simon, his son Brandon Simon and wife Tammi Simon, his daughter Ashley Simon, his grandson (and best friend) Brawn Simon, His surviving siblings are Mike and Brenda Simon, Brian and Shelley Simon, Chris Simon, Joe Simon, and Matt and Angela Simon. Sister-in-law Debbie Steele-Moore, sister-in-law Angie Simon-Schweer, and sister-in-law Vicki Simon.


Serving as pallbearers are his son Brandon Simon, nephew Clay Moore-Edwards, nephew Colton Moore-Edwards, nephew Richard Chavez, best friend Steve Warlick, friend Jeff Werner, friend John Vincent, friend Darren Hooten, and friend Troy Mitchell.


Serving as honorary pallbearers are his brother Christopher Simon, his brother Brian Simon, his brother Mike Simon, grandson Brawn Simon, and friend Tom Wheatley.
