Mulhall, Oklahoma resident Phylis Jean Silvers, 85, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma with the family present to receive friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Vassar Full Gospel Church with burial to follow in Clarkson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request Memorial contributions be made to the Vassar Full Gospel Church (P O Box 28, Mulhall, OK 73063). Services are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home and Cremation.
Phylis was born May 18, 1940, in Mulhall, Oklahoma to Sylvester Henry Voskuhl and Lucille (Hawkins) Voskuhl. She graduated from Mulhall High School in 1958 and married Glenn Silvers on June 22 that same year. They made their home on a small farm near Mulhall and spent the next 67 years there until her death. Phylis spent much of her life as a homemaker but also worked for the Mulhall school system as both a cook and substitute teacher for over 20 years. She was also very active in her church where she taught Sunday school most of her life. Phylis loved being a mother and grandmother, loved her church, and enjoyed gardening and canning. She also had a major influence in her grandkid's lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson; Steven Silvers, 2 great-grandchildren: Cooper Silvers and Hunter Wiss, and a brother; Ed Voskuhl.
Survivors include her husband Glenn, 4 children; Clinton Silvers and wife Sissy of Stillwater, James Silvers of Stillwater, Rodney Silvers and wife Grace of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Mark Silvers and wife Kelly of Edmond, Oklahoma, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; George Voskuhl and wife Sandra of Crescent, Oklahoma, Bill Voskuhl and wife Mary of Hennessey, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
