Obituary

Robert "Bob" Aden Bickle passed away in Stillwater, Oklahoma on March 10, 2024 at the age of
97. A memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Bob will be laid to rest in Newkirk Cemetery.

Bob was born on October 18, 1926 to Henry and Velma (Fiscus) Bickle in Cushing, Oklahoma. After junior year of high school, he was stationed in Japan during WWII. He earned his degree while in the army. He returned to Cushing and married Doris Lee Johnson. They had three children. Bob managed the Kaylor Lumber in Newkirk, Oklahoma and Long Bell Lumber in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He later worked at the Conoco Refinery and retired in 1995. He was happily married to his wife, Doris, who passed, November 1997. After her death, Bob moved to Stillwater, where he met and married Sara Gray in 1998. They were married until her death in September 2011.

Bob was a faithful, kind, polite and generous man. To Bob, family was his biggest love. He would take any opportunity to let them know how much he loved them. He spent many hours watching his grandchildren's sporting events. Bob was good with the written word especially when it came to writing poems, prayers and blessings. He loved to share what he wrote at family gatherings and all would listen. He was a lover of desserts and anything sweet along with a good cup of coffee. In a family full of Oklahoma State University fans, Bob was a closet Oklahoma University fan.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris Lee Johnson Bickle; second wife, Sara Gray Bickle; his sister Laquita Seales; and his grandson, Bryan Bickle of Bixby.

He is survived by his children, Barry (Lois) Bickle of Stillwater; Greg (Rene') Bickle of Weatherford; Janie (Charley) Furnas of Stillwater; five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff and community of Stillwater Christian Villa and Stillwater Creek Nursing staff, where Bob spent the last years of his life. They are grateful for the love and care given to Bob. Also to Karmen Legacy Hospice for their special care during this time.
