Robert "Bob" Bradley, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and decorated U.S. Army veteran, was born on October 22, 1936, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of James Newton Bradley (January 9, 1895 – May 13, 1971) and Anna Elizabeth Osterhous (December 18, 1898 – April 28, 1981).

Bob briefly enlisted in the U.S. Navy before switching to the U.S. Army, where he built a distinguished 20-year military career. He completed two tours in Korea and three tours in Vietnam—two of which he volunteered for. As a radar man, his unit frequently saw heavy combat. For his bravery, he was awarded multiple commendation and combat related medals including the Bronze Star twice, He received the prestigious honorary Order of St. Barbara in recognition of his service.

During his military service, Bob demonstrated both courage under fire and deep compassion. He was responsible for setting up a 100-bed field hospital stateside to house Vietnam refugees. He held a special place in his heart for the children of Vietnam and frequently had his wife send care packages filled with items for them.

On November 23, 1957, Bob married the love of his life, Leota Kay Johnston, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Kay, who was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1938, preceded him in death on January 3, 2016. Together they provided a safe and loving home for their family.

Bob was a wonderful father who loved to tinker and enjoyed involving his children in projects or teaching them new skills—especially target practice. He was well respected as a dedicated soldier who took great pride in his family. In later years, he delighted in his grandchildren, getting a real kick out of their stories and pictures.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leota Kay Johnston Bradley; his brother, James Newton Bradley; and his granddaughter, Marissa (November 19, 1993 – June 18, 2015). He was also preceded in death by other family members. He is survived by his brother, William T. Bradley; his children Robert and Denise Bradley, Karen and Jim McGuire, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Bob’s life was marked by service, quiet strength, and an enduring love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
