Eben Robert (Bob) McGinty, 99, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024 at the Veterans Center in Sulphur, Oklahoma surrounded by family. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Gracemont Cemetery. Bob was born September 13, 1924 to Eben McGinty and Julia (Ellis) McGinty in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Bossier High School in 1942. He married the love of his life, Ouida Underwood on September 11, 1965, in Moore, Oklahoma.

Bob led a life enriched by diverse achievements and interests. An avid hunter and fisherman, he relished expeditions to Alaska and cherished his moments with the Bible and family. His love for Oklahoma State sports, opera music, and his wife's piano melodies filled his home with joy. Bob was a quiet soul, loyal friend, and a faithful member of UHBC.

Bob served valiantly as a Marine during WWII, participating in the 1945 invasion of Okinawa. Post-war, he turned his adventurous spirit to speedboat racing, setting numerous world records. By 17, Bob was a pilot, soaring over the landscapes he revered. His long-standing membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) marked him as their oldest active member. Additionally, his commitments to the Masons at the 32° level and the Jesters showcased his deep community ties.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Ouida McGinty, brother Al McGinty, and sister Mary Alice Green.

He is survived by his children, Marilyn (McGinty) Manuel of Stratford, Janine DiVincenti of Corinth, Texas, Scarlette Hall (Ron) of Stillwater, and Bobby Chapman of Moore; grandchildren Sarah Null of Argyle, Texas, Kassidy Malone, Shannon Kennedy, and Kelli Bonds of Moore; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sulphur Veterans Center for their support in his final days. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made to the Hydrocephalus Association in honor of Bob's great-grandson Hawkins at http://support.hydroassoc.org/goto/HawkinsNull.
