Ruth Lutz, 80, of Stillwater died June 14, 2023 at Stillwater Medical Center. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday June 30, 2023 at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born to Clarence Grady Bingham and Zelphia May (Palmer) Bingham March 30, 1943 in Tryon, Oklahoma. She went to school in Tryon where she graduated. She married Robert Lee McCandless February 11, 1963 and had three children. That marriage ended in divorce July 12, 1979. Later Ruth married Bob Lutz on July 26, 1982 and celebrated 40 years of marriage. Ruth worked at Oklahoma State University as a Housekeeper in Kerr Hall on the 9th and 10th floor for many years. Ruth gave her life to Christ and was baptized March 31, 2023 alongside her husband, becoming members of Saint Francis Catholic Church. She loved reading and working puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her husband Bob; son Bobby McCandless; daughters Carrie Akins and husband Bo; and Leslie McCandless and husband Allen Duval and Norman Miller.

Six grandchildren, Stephanie Evans and husband Justin, James Akins and wife Amanda, Philip Akins and wife Lauren, Felicia Larson, Jessica Miller and her partners Preston Sumlin and DeAnna Burnett; three great-grandchildren; brother Tom Bingham and sister Mary Hemphill.
