Sally Ann (Meyer) Denny, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by family. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Sally was born on October 21, 1940, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Alexander Conrad "Ace" Meyer and Dorothy Jane (Dawkins) Meyer. She later moved to Tulsa, where she attended Monte Cassino Catholic School, graduating in 1959. After high school, Sally returned to Stillwater and began working at 1st National Bank.

Through mutual friends, Sally met Michael Myron "Mick" Denny who, as she fondly recalled, "filled the doorway." She was immediately smitten. The two were married in 1961 and began the life and family Sally had always dreamed of building.

Sally often said that all she ever wanted was to be a mom. She poured her heart into raising her three children, but her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family. She lovingly served as a mother figure to other relatives and to many who were fortunate enough to come into her life.

Her home was filled with creativity, faith, and warmth. Many family members fondly remember sitting in the sewing room as she carefully stitched her creations. Her children sat beside her sewing machine, reciting the Hail Mary and the Our Father out loud until the prayers were memorized. Sally was a gifted seamstress who lovingly made most of the clothes for her family of five, as well as cheerleading uniforms, baby clothes, wedding dresses, bridesmaids' dresses, prom dresses, quilts, potholders, wall-hangings, doll clothes, costumes, and so much more (including a weird period where she made underwear!). Each item she made was a labor of love.

Sally was also known for her incredible cooking. Her fried chicken was legendary, and Saturday mornings often began with a generous breakfast platter of eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, and biscuits especially if someone helped milk cows in her place so she could focus on cooking. Her kitchen was always busy, whether she was preparing everyday meals or making special treats that delighted her children and grandchildren.

She worked side by side with Mick in all aspects of their shared life, including milking cows, showing cattle, gardening, canning, spraying fruit trees, harvesting honey, participating in BBQ competitions, and feeding the many hands who worked in the fields. Together, they also enjoyed genealogy trips and the joy of preserving their family history.

Sally's home was a place of constant care and activity, especially for her grandchildren, whom she lovingly looked after during the summers and after school. She often shuttled the kids wherever they needed to go, making sure everyone was well fed and well cared for.

Above all else, Sally's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Her faith guided her devotion to her children and grandchildren and inspired her generous volunteer service to her community. She lived quietly but fully, giving of herself through faith, family, hard work, and love. She was active in the St. Francis Altar Society and the St. John's Women's Guild. Her prayer lists were filled with names of so many people, including those she just bumped into while shopping. Her rosary and her bible were always nearby.

Sally will be remembered for her gentle strength, her servant's heart, her unwavering faith, and the countless ways she made others feel cared for.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and his parents, C.G. and Gertrude Denny; and her brothers, William "Bill" Meyer and Charles Thomas Meyer.

She is survived by children Kelly Hamlin (John); Tom Denny, and Judy Goeringer (Bill); Grandchildren Molly Hamlin, Jake Hamlin (Jennifer), Alison Scarlett (Kevin), Casey Denny, Jack Denny, Will Goeringer and Kate Goeringer; Great grandchildren Lane and Cole Hamlin. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Meyer, her sister, Mary Feterly, and her sister-in-law, Nina Meyer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, Sally had many friends who cared for and loved her.

The family thanks the caregivers at Companion Hospice who assisted in her last days, the doctors and staff at the Stillwater Cancer Center (Dr. Cole, Julie, Debbie and so many others) who helped Sally courageously battle cancer for over 20 years, her doctor Kelsey Smith, plus friends from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the women at Glencoe Piecemakers.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital by going to www.stjude.org.
