Lieutenant Colonel Scott L. Huston (Ret.), age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Please join the family in celebrating Scott's life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 1220 S. Blakely St. in Stillwater.
Scott was born on December 12, 1953, in Munich, Germany. He was the beloved son of James Lee Huston, hailing from Thomas, Oklahoma and Lillian Mae Smith Huston from Omega, Oklahoma.
A distinguished career marked Scott's journey. He graduated from San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, California in 1972, followed by earning a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1976 and a Master's degree in operations management from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1982. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 1976 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at OSU, he entered active duty in January 1977, earning his navigator wings.
Throughout his 22-year Air Force career, Scott served in various roles, including navigator, navigator instructor and evaluator, Air Force Liaison to U.S. Army III Corps, wing and major command executive officer, major command airlift director, squadron operations officer, and his final assignment as detachment commander. Retiring as a Master Navigator with 4,000 flight hours in the C-130 aircraft, his decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak-leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Post-retirement, Scott dedicated 13 years to Lockheed Martin as a C-130 academic and aircraft simulator instructor. His impact on colleagues and students alike will be remembered with gratitude. Scott enjoyed being on the Board of Directors at Stillwater Country Club and he developed many special relationships.
Scott's life was truly a testament to dedication, service, and love.
Scott is survived by his cherished spouse Bobbe Jean Bay Huston of Stillwater; his children and their spouses: Kyle and Julie Huston of Dallas, Texas, and Corey and Jessica Huston, also of Dallas; his stepchildren Kyle Keddington and Kayla Artherton, both residing in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and his beloved nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jeffery Don Huston and his spouse Sherry Huston of Yukon, Oklahoma and by his ex-wife Diane Hughes Huston of Sherwood, Arkansas.
While we mourn the loss of a devoted Oklahoma State fan, let's imagine him organizing the ultimate tailgate party in the sky, where the Cowboys always win!
