Obituary

Skylar Chethlahoe Whipple died in a car accident on February 21, 2026 at the age of 37. He was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on January 1, 1989 to parents Chris and Janet (Cunningham) Whipple. He began dating Lindsey Dugan in February 2015 and they made Stillwater, Oklahoma their home. Skylar's family invites you to a reception that is taking place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Stillwater Community Center. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Skylar got involved in the "SCA" medieval fighting society in his teens. Taught by his friend Bear, he became the youngest squire in the kingdom at 16. Skylar remained heavily involved in the SCA throughout his adult life. In the society he was known by the persona of Tycho Leksten. He enjoyed fighting in SCA events, and loved sparring with, and teaching fellow members.

Skylar was always a big gamer. Even as a kid the first thing he would say to his dad when he came home from work was "wanna play a game?". It was so frequent that he was nick-named "WPAG"(Pronounced: wa pag'). This is a love that he never lost. He avidly enjoyed video, tabletop, and role-playing games, particularly chess and Dungeons and Dragons. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing, especially with family.

Skylar also had a gift for building and repairing electronics. Skylar and his father got into amateur (HAM) radio for several years in his late teens attending several HAM events. He majored in Physics and Electrical Engineering at OSU.

Above all, Skylar was a "fixer." He always wanted to help his loved ones and friends. Whether it was projects, home or car repair, or just being there in a time of need, Skylar was always ready to jump in. He was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his partner Lindsey Dugan; his parents, Chris and Janet Whipple; his brother, Collyn Whipple; his nephews Joey Whipple and Robbie Whipple; his grandfather, Charles Whipple; as well as numerous friends.
