Obituary

Sonja Jayne (Moorman) Honegger passed from this world to her heavenly home on November 18th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Sonja was born to her parents Carolyn Jane (Bostian) Moorman and John Moorman on December 14th, 1972. She graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School, Northern Oklahoma College with her associate's degree, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University with her bachelor's degree in special education. Sonja then became a dedicated and loving school teacher. She taught at Tonkawa Elementary School for the majority of her career.


Sonja married the love of her life Scott Honegger on May 5, 1994. They were married for 30 years during which time they welcomed two sons, Austin Mitchell and Adam Michael. Her boys were the light of her life and her greatest joy. She was the most loving mother. Sonja took numerous people under her wings including children she loved as her own, her students, family members, and countless lifelong friends. She gave generously of her time and herself, and she would make specially crafted gifts for her many loved ones. She was a talented artist and cake designer. Sonja always went the extra mile, and she is an inspiration to many. Her kindness, love, and orneriness will not be forgotten, and neither will her bravery and strength during her most difficult journey.


Sonja was preceded in death by her parents John and Carolyn Moorman, grandparents Junior and Morine Bostian, and father-in-law Sam Honegger. She is survived by her loving husband Scott, her devoted sons Austin and Adam, her honorary children, mother-in-law Carrie Honegger, Aunt Shelly Fowler, cousins Courtney Huseman and Whitney Martin, sister at heart Michelle Duke, beloved nieces and nephews, and many true and loving friends. Sonja blessed a multitude of lives.
