Stanley Ray Dunbar, age 67, of Perkins, died October 16, 2024 at Stillwater Medical Center. Stan passed peacefully with his family by his side after a long illness. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at American Legion in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Stan was born to Glenn and Leola (Fleming) Dunbar on May 27, 1957 in Gardena, California. He married Lisa Dunbar on September 21, 1995 at Diamond Valley Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
He was a 1975 graduate of Okmulgee High School. He then attended Northern Oklahoma College and graduated in 2004 with a double associate's degree in engineering technology-Marine Propulsion Technology and Business Administration. During his career, he was an engineer/tool and die maker at Mercruiser for 31 years, a machining instructor at Central Technology Center for 3 years, and an engineer/tool and die maker for Pelco Products of Edmond for 7 years.
His first love was baseball. He played center field and was a competitive athlete. His favorite player was Willie Mays. He played college baseball and was scouted for the pros. God had other plans for Stan. He spent many years at Mercruiser as a talented Tool and Die maker. During that time, he had three beautiful children, Stanya, Shanna, and Shawn. In 1995, Stan married the love of his life Lisa. Together they made the family complete with a daughter named Makennlea. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, hunting, and fishing. He loved to cook out and spend time with family and friends. He loved his family deeply. He could never pass up a good joke or pulling a prank on someone. If you met him, you would never forget him or his million-dollar smile.
Stan is preceded in death by his parents; sister Clara Casey; and grandson Bryan Hladik.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; daughter Stanya Rose and husband Mark, Shanna Spears and husband Wayne, and Makennlea Dunbar; son Shawn Dunbar and wife Asia; grandchildren Zaysha Hladik, savannah Hladik, Bowen Rose, Bravyn McMurtry, Daxton Lunday, Jewell Spears, Harlow Dunbar, Rhylen Dunbar, and Zariah Dunbar; brothers Glenn Dunbar and Ronnie Dunbar; and sisters Charlotte Hoffmann-Hanks, Celia Collier, and Susan Shappard.
