Thomas Leroy "Tom" Stokes, 70, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Edmond, Oklahoma. A celebration of Tom's life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Born on July 1, 1955, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Tom was the son of Art and Velma Stokes. He grew up in Pawnee, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the steady, good-natured character that those who loved him will always remember.
Tom graduated from Pawnee High School in 1973 and continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa before attending Oklahoma State University. He spent many years working in the oilfield, serving as a tool pusher for Bodard and Hale, often working alongside his dad-memories he cherished and retold with pride. Later in life, he continued his hardworking spirit through roles with Pawnee Propane and J&J Solutions.
Tom will always be remembered for his remarkable strength and determination as he faced physical challenges over many years. His resilience inspired everyone who knew him; he approached every obstacle with grit, humor, and an unwavering refusal to let anything slow him down.
He lived life with energy and enthusiasm. Tom loved golfing, boating, and skiing with family and friends, and he was happiest when he was outdoors or working with his hands. Rebuilding old cars, tackling projects around the house, and finding something new to tinker with meant there was truly never a dull moment when Tom was around. Tom dearly loved his Dr. Pepper and was rarely seen without one in hand - a small joy that became part of his everyday charm.
A devoted sports fan, he cheered passionately for his beloved OU Sooners and rarely missed an OKC Thunder game. Some of his greatest joys came from watching his grandchildren compete-whether on the field or at cheer competitions. He encouraged them endlessly, celebrating their successes and offering the kind of steady support only a proud grandfather can give.
Tom married the love of his life, Patricia "Trish" Holford, on August 16, 1979. Together they shared 47 wonderful years filled with partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Tom was a proud and dedicated father to his daughter, Tessa Stokes Beaulieu, and his son, Brandon Brown. His family was the center of his world, and he poured his heart into supporting, guiding, and celebrating them.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Velma Stokes, and his brother, Buddy Stokes.
He is survived by his wife, Trish; his daughter Tessa and her husband Geoff; his son Brandon and his wife Courtney; and his beloved grandchildren: Dawson, Hudson, and Sloane Beaulieu; Kennedy Brown; Presli and Hallie Brankel; and Cassidy Faulk and her husband Cooper. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Baker and Coast Faulk. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Judith Diel (Mark), Brenda Weigt (Mark), and Susie Hall.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Golden Age, Teal Creek, and Companion Hospice for the care and kindness shown to Tom in his final years.
