Walter Lester Rossander, age 97, of Glencoe, Oklahoma entered his heavenly home on October 24, 2024 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Strode Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Strode Funeral home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Walter was born to Arthur and Mary (Susie) Susan (Demaree) Rossander on April 15, 1927, on the family farm southeast of Glencoe. On May 29, 1949 he married Nancy Irene Manning in Stillwater. They shared 57 loving years together, until her passing on November 18, 2006.
He attended Council Valley School, was a finish carpenter, and later worked at Moore Business Forms. He loved being on the family farm where he resided until March of 2022. His hobbies included cattle, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Rossander; his siblings; brothers Harold Rossander, Keith Rossander, Ralph White, Dale White; sisters Emma Mitchell, Edith Waddell, Lucille Grindstaff; and great granddaughter Stacy Lynn Bergman.
He is survived by his son Gary Rossander of Glencoe; daughter Marsha Weinand and husband Jerry of Enid; grandchildren Kristi Bergman of Enid; Sandy Waters of Glencoe; Mandy French of Glencoe; and G.K. Rossander and wife Stephanie of Pawnee: great grandchildren Mica French of Glencoe; Tucker French of Glencoe; Chance Waters of Glencoe; Kent Rossander of Pawnee; Aiden Rossander of Pawnee, and Vera Rossander of Pawnee.
Serving as pallbearers are Gary Rossander, G.K. Rossander, Kent Rossander, Tucker French, Chance Waters, and Keith Buntin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Southern Oaks Care Center and Traditions Hospice.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests donations be made in Walter's name to the Glencoe United Methodist Church P.O. Box 30 Glencoe, OK 74032 in honor of Joyce and the late Jim Choplin for the exceptional care they provided.
