Why People Choose to Plan Ahead

Why People Choose to Plan Ahead

We've had the privilege of assisting many families with their funeral pre-planning. There are two parts to preplanning: "Prearranging" and "Prefunding".

"Prearranging" means sitting down with us to create the kind of experience those you love will have whenever you pass away. We not only gather most of the information they will need (for death certificates, etc.) but will also create an "emergency file" so they will know who to call and what to do when the death occurs.

Prearranging is provided at no charge and no obligation, and starts with the completion of a Memorial Guide and, if requested, a cost estimate.

For a free copy of your own "Final Wishes Organizer" with Memorial Guide, please call us at (405) 372-5550 and ask for Laura Deaton, our Preplanning Advisor.

"Prefunding" means using the choices made in your Memorial Guide to create a cost estimate and paying for your funeral or cremation arrangements in advance.

Should you choose to pre-fund, convenient monthly payments can be arranged. Prefunding offers many possible benefits, such as:

  • Freezing/Guaranteeing the cost of your arrangements
  • Leaving life insurance or other savings to your family
  • Protecting your funds from being depleted in case of needing to qualify for Medicaid
  • Sparing your family from having to make difficult financial decisions
  • Taking responsibility for your own arrangements and not forcing someone else to do so when they least prepared

If you would like more information about prefunding, please call us at (405) 372-5550 and ask for Laura Deaton, our Preplanning Advisor.

Comments From Our Families About Preplanning

  • "Pre-planning my funeral was my way of showing my family just how much I love them."
  • "In pre-paying for my funeral arrangements, I've lessened the financial burden on those people I leave behind.
  • "I'm very independent and have always made all my own decisions."
  • "Some say I like to be in control of everything and they're right!"
  • "This way my family knows exactly what I want. No one has to get angry or fight, and no one has to feel guilty about making the wrong decision. When I'm gone, they will know what I want."
  • "I remember when my mother died. None of us kids knew what to do and absolutely none of us knew what she wanted. No one bothered to ask! I'm just not going to wait for my kids to ask me what I want. I'm going to tell them."
  • "I guess it's because I want things done my way. I want to provide my funeral pre-arrangements to our local funeral home to make sure I get what I want."

These are just a few of the comments we've heard during preplanning arrangements. Chances are pretty good that some of these statements are true for you as well.
